After a series of short visits beginning in 2014 and ending just this week, I’m delighted to offer a preliminary catalog of Ibadi and other Arabic manuscripts held at the library of the Association pour la sauvegarde de l’île de Djerba (ASIDJ) in Houmet Souk, Djerba. This library has an eclectic and fascinating collection of manuscripts and documents relating to families on the island of Jerba. The catalog covers the bound volumes and fragment collections that I was able to examine but does not unfortunately include a detailed catalog of family and related documents (marriage contracts, inheritance documents, bills of sale, etc.). These latter items merit attention but the state of the library right now is not conducive to a systematic study of them, since most documents are not inventoried or stored in the same place. It is also worth noting that the library contains photocopies of few other texts as well as a handful of lithographs, neither of which are included here.

Like previous catalogs, the ASIDJ catalog includes codicological descriptions of the manuscripts as well as a catalog of watermarks with accompanying images and appendices of former owners and copyists drawn from the manuscripts themselves. I hope it will encourage further work on this fascinating collection in Jerba.

بعد إتمام عدّة زيارات قصيرة بداية من ٢٠١٤ ونهاية من هذا الأسبوع، يسرّني بأن أقدّم فهرس تمهيدي للمخطوطات الإباضية وغيرها من المخطوطات العربية في مكتبة جمعية صيانة جزيرة جربة في حومة السوق. تتحتوي هذه المكتبة مجموعة متنوعة ومشوّقة من مخطوطات ووثائق متعلّقة بتاريخ الجزيرة وعائلاتها. للأسف، لا يشتمل الفهرس من الوثائق(أي عقود الشراء والبيع ووثائق الإرث والزواج إلى آخره) نظرا لحالة المكتبة عدم ترتيبها في خزانة واحدة. يستحق بالذكر أيضا أنّ المكتبة فيها صور من مخطوطات وبعض المطبوعات الحجرية  ولم أذكرها في الفهرس

شأن الفهرس هذا شأن بقية الفهارس التي قمت بتحضيرها، أي فيه قائمة من المخطوطات وأوصاف علمية (كودوكولية) لكل مخطوطة بالإضافة إلى فهرس مصوّر للعلامات المائية وملاحق فيها قائمات النساخ والتمليكات. أتمنى أنّه سيفيد الباحثين ويشجّعهم على القيام بالبحث في هذا المجموعة الغنية
